I GOT THE MIC HOLIDAY YOUTH EDITION

WACO Theater Center in association with Eli Lu Entertainment and Richard Lawson Studios presents “I Got The Mic: Poetic Experience” Episode 3 Youth edition, which will air on December 16th, 2020 at 5pm pst & 8pm est on WACO Theater Center’s Facebook and Youtube. This episode will be our youth episode focused on “Gratitude and celebration of family, folklore, charity in the spirit of the holiday season and new year.” Our special youth guest co-hosts will be “Black-ish” TV star and Executive producer of the movie “Little”, Marsai Martin and the voice of young Simba in Disney’s Live-Action “Lion King” movie, JD McCrary. 

Co-Artistic Directors of WACO Theater Center, and Co-Owners of Richard Lawson Studios, Tina Knowles Lawson, and Richard Lawson, are executive producers on the project, along with Philadelphia twins sisters, Eli and Lu Bevins, Co-Founders of Eli Lu Entertainment.

Fixated on wordplay, metaphors, expression, and creative storytelling, “I Got The Mic: Poetic Experience” is a virtual talent show highlighting wordsmiths in an array of genres, such as poetry, spoken word, rap (hip hop), monologues, skits, Cyphers, songwriting, and other literary art forms. Each showcase consists of a featured poet or spoken word artist, musical guest performance, and a DJ. Additionally, each show is integrated with segments on “The Evolution of African Culture,” focused on the diasporic flow of Africa’s Influence on arts and culture worldwide. This alignment to I Got the Mic’s programming is for the fulfillment and purpose of elevating and connecting African heritage and culture with U.S. descendants. Season one will kick off with the lens centered on Ghana. Furthermore, the Evolution of African Culture will dive into Ghanaian influenced poetry, literature, fashion, visual art, music, culture, and more.

I Got the Mic is a worldwide celebration of literary work and verbal art forms. Thus, the talent is able to participate virtually, and, or physically at WACO Theater Center in Los Angeles or Studio 2e in Philadelphia. The show will premiere on WACO Theater Center’s Youtube and Facebook pages.
