Eli Lu with 3 Award Winning Films

We have three films competing in this year’s Campus Moviefest (CMF) Hollywood competition: “My Dear Arthur,” “The Exit,” and “ID.” My Dear Arthur is a thriller, The Exit is a drama that tackles domestic violence, and ID is a social justice film. We typically draw inspiration from our personal experiences, stories from other people’s experiences, our grandmother’s life teachings and – as horror and thriller film lovers – we draw inspiration from horror films made in or before the 2000’s. Although we’re filmmakers, we’re writers first and enjoy a good story; usually a story that conveys a message as shown in “The Exit” and “ID”, and stories that allow us to express our creativity through storytelling as shown in “My Dear Arthur.”

Campus Moviefest travels to over 45 participating schools throughout the year. The Jury award represents the top films on each campus that will advance to compete at the national level at the CMF Hollywood competition. The selected Jury award films from each campus will be judged by leading film industry professionals. The top 16 films on campus were screened at CMF IU finale. Following the screening, the top 4 Jury award films where announced. Both My Dear Arthur and the Exit films won 2 of the 4 Jury awards at Campus Moviefest IU and will now compete nationally. Eli Bevins also won Best Editor on campus, while Heather Owens (My Dear Arthur) won Best Actress.

Fun Fact: We won first place in the Elfenworks Social Justice category last year, 2014, for our film “Systematic Living,” which was also screened on Virgin American Airlines.
