The musical short film, “Same Ol’ River,” is 1 of 12 tracks off of Eli & Lu’s new cinematic mixtape, “Sound Mind.” Inspired by Paul Roberson’s “Old Man River,” the first scene wrapped Sunday, October 28th. In the film, two African American dock workers of the 1930’s – with opposing views – discuss hard work and labor in regards to living and not just existing. The film will play prior to Eli & Lu’s spoken word piece, accompanied by a soulful melody by Patricia Bevins Moyé, who sets the tone for the track. What comes to follow are women housemaids and male factory works in theatrical dance moves, echoing the musical, “Annie.”
There will be a red carpet screening showing all 12 short films and spoken word tracks from the mixtape held in Philadelphia.
